Why ZachXBT is Calling for Block Explorer Overhaul on L1 Chains

Crypto analyst ZachXBT has been making waves in the blockchain community with his recent critique of block explorers on various layer-1 (L1) chains. In a recent post, ZachXBT expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of onchain transaction tracking tools available outside of the Ethereum ecosystem.

According to ZachXBT, most block explorers on L1 chains beyond Ethereum are in dire need of a complete overhaul to improve their quality. While he acknowledged that some platforms like Blockchair, Mempool, and WalletExplorer for Bitcoin are acceptable, ZachXBT believes there is still significant room for improvement.

When asked about the possibility of building a multi-chain block explorer, ZachXBT mentioned that profitability is a key factor in determining which chains are worth building on. However, he did hint at a potential venture that he would pursue in the future.

In his assessment, ZachXBT rated block explorers on EVM-compatible chains like OKLink, Solscan for Solana, and Bithomp for Ripple as okay but not optimal. While Solscan received a slightly better rating for its ability to filter information, other platforms like Tron were deemed to have room for improvement.

On the other hand, ZachXBT placed Cosmos, Bittensor, Hedera, Harmony, Algorand, Aptos, and Sui in the bottom tier of block explorers, particularly criticizing Aptos and Sui as subpar options.

In a previous post, ZachXBT discussed the shortcomings of Sui’s block explorer, SuiVision, highlighting issues such as the inability to filter out spam transactions or specific data. Despite describing SuiVision as “complete garbage,” ZachXBT believes there is potential for improvement with the right updates and support.

Overall, ZachXBT’s call for an overhaul of block explorers on L1 chains underscores the importance of improving transaction tracking tools for a seamless blockchain experience.
