Securitize, a prominent tokenization platform, has taken a significant step forward by incorporating the cross-chain communication protocol, Wormhole. This strategic integration aims to revolutionize the world of real-world assets (RWAs) by facilitating seamless cross-chain capabilities for assets tokenized through the Securitize platform. In a recent announcement on September 20, Securitize emphasized the importance of enabling smooth interoperability among blockchain networks to drive the adoption of RWAs.
The soaring popularity of RWAs, which encompass tokenized claims on financial assets, commodities, and art, has been hampered by limitations related to transferability across different blockchains. Carlos Domingo, the CEO of Securitize, highlighted the necessity for tokenized securities to leverage public, permissionless blockchains to unleash the full potential of blockchain technology.
By leveraging Wormhole’s capabilities, Securitize aims to revolutionize RWA transactions by enabling sub-second, sub-penny transactions and fostering a comprehensive RWA cross-chain ecosystem. With RWAs constituting a substantial $12 billion market, the inclusion of Wormhole is poised to drive further growth and innovation in this sector.
Notably, WisdomTree, a key player in the RWA space, recently introduced an RWA platform designed to empower users to access the asset manager’s RWA tokens across various wallets and blockchain networks. This move aligns with the industry’s trend towards enhanced accessibility and interoperability within the RWA market.
Securitize has established itself as a trusted partner for institutional investment managers, catering to industry giants like BlackRock, Hamilton Lane InvestCorp, and KKR. With approximately $1 billion onboarded into RWAs, Securitize is registered with United States regulators as a broker-dealer, transfer agent, and alternative trading system (ATS), offering a robust infrastructure for tokenized funds.
With the integration of Wormhole and the growing recognition of RWAs as a $30 trillion global market opportunity, the future of tokenized assets appears bright. As institutions seek to capitalize on the benefits of tokenization, smoother cross-chain integration provided by Wormhole sets the stage for increased institutional adoption, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of the blockchain ecosystem.
