The Reserve Rights (RSR) token has experienced a surge in value, reaching a multiyear high, amidst rumors surrounding former President Donald Trump’s anticipated choice for the US Securities and Exchange Commission chair.
Reports suggest that the token’s rally is linked to speculation that Trump may nominate former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins, who previously advised the Reserve Rights Foundation, the organization behind the RSR token.
While Atkins is a top contender for the SEC chair position, Reserve co-creator and CEO Nevin Freeman clarified that Atkins is no longer actively consulting for Reserve, having served as an advisor at the project’s inception.
Despite this, Freeman commended Atkins for his open-mindedness towards crypto and expressed enthusiasm about potential collaboration on regulatory matters.
Prominent figures within the crypto community, such as attorney John Deaton, have voiced their support for Atkins as a suitable candidate for the SEC chair role, citing his favorable stance towards the industry.
As speculation mounts surrounding Trump’s impending announcement of the new SEC chair, industry insiders anticipate Atkins as a lead contender, prompting a significant uptick in RSR token value.
On December 3, the RSR token surged by 88%, reaching $0.017, its highest level in years, although it remains below its all-time peak of $0.11 achieved earlier this year.
With the crypto market buzzing over potential regulatory shifts under a new SEC chair, the RSR token’s rally highlights the market’s responsiveness to key leadership appointments.
