The popular tap-to-earn game, Hamster Kombat, is facing a significant decline in user engagement and activity following political issues, bans, and stiff competition. From boasting 300 million users in August, the game now has only 41 million active monthly players, marking an 86% decrease.
On the other hand, Paws, a newly launched Mini App on Telegram, has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity. Within just eight days of its launch, Paws has attracted 20.5 million users, surpassing Hamster Kombat’s growth trajectory.
According to recent data from IntoTheBlock (ITB), Hamster Kombat’s active addresses peaked at around 772,330 on Sept. 27 and have been on a declining trend since. The game’s HMSTR token price has also plummeted by nearly 70%, reflecting lower network engagement and reduced user activity.
Despite these challenges, the total number of addresses holding HMSTR continues to rise steadily, reaching a 30-day high of 3.5 million holders on Nov. 4.
In contrast to Hamster Kombat’s struggles, the Paws Mini App has seen tremendous success, with over 11 million users joining in the first two days alone. A recent announcement on the Paws Telegram channel revealed that 10 million wallets had connected to the app, and it had acquired one million followers on its X account.
While Hamster Kombat faces criticism and rumors of bans in certain regions, the game’s team remains focused on integrating payment systems, launching new games, and incorporating non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as in-game assets.
As the landscape of Telegram games evolves, the contrasting fortunes of Hamster Kombat and Paws Mini App serve as a testament to the competitive nature of the industry. It will be interesting to see how these developments shape the future of gaming on the popular messaging platform.
