Bitcoin enthusiast and MicroStrategy Chairman Michael Saylor is gearing up to present a three-minute pitch to Microsoft’s board of directors, advocating for investing in Bitcoin. Saylor revealed his plans during a recent X Spaces event hosted by VanEck.
Despite initially offering to meet with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella privately on the matter, Saylor was instead invited to present his proposal to the board. Microsoft has disclosed that a voting item for December will focus on evaluating the potential of investing in Bitcoin.
The proposal, spearheaded by the National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR), emphasizes MicroStrategy’s successful Bitcoin investment strategy, with its shares outperforming Microsoft’s by over 300% this year. Saylor believes that considering Bitcoin as an asset should be a standard practice for major companies like Berkshire Hathaway and Apple.
With the shareholder vote scheduled for December 10, Microsoft’s board remains cautious about the proposal, citing their ongoing assessment of various investable assets, including Bitcoin. Nevertheless, should the assessment lead to a decision against investing in Bitcoin, it could create a challenging situation for the tech giant.
As shareholders await the outcome of the vote, Saylor continues to advocate for a diversified investment approach that incorporates tangible assets like Bitcoin. The potential impact of Microsoft’s decision will be closely observed by investors and industry experts alike.
