Worldcoin takes a significant step forward by announcing seamless integration of World ID with the Solana blockchain using the innovative cross-chain protocol developed by the Wormhole Foundation.
In just two and a half months since being named a Wave1 Community Grants recipient, the Wormhole Foundation has successfully completed the cross-platform bridge, allowing World ID, built on Worldcoin’s layer 2 Ethereum chain, to operate on the Solana network. This integration marks a pivotal moment for developers working on the Solana network, as they can now easily incorporate World ID authentication into their decentralized applications (DApps) with the added advantage of cross-chain compatibility with Ethereum services.
World ID, a privacy-enabled human verification service, enables secure and authenticated logins to DApps and other services without compromising user information. With this new integration, Worldcoin aims to enhance the user experience for their rapidly growing user base, which stood at 6,630,191 million users as of July 31, 2024.
While Worldcoin has faced challenges in certain European markets, the company’s expansion in Southeast Asia has been met with enthusiasm. Recently, the Malaysian government adopted World ID as its standard authentication service, showcasing the widespread adoption and potential growth opportunities for Worldcoin in the region.
As Worldcoin continues to establish itself as a key player in the digital identity space, the integration with Solana through Wormhole Foundation represents a major milestone in unlocking new possibilities for decentralized applications and services.
