As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, analysts predict that Ethereum (ETH) is gearing up to surpass its previous all-time high in the first quarter of 2025.
Despite Bitcoin (BTC) reaching a record high of $100,000 on December 6, Ether has struggled to stay above the $4,000 mark. However, recent market fluctuations suggest that Ethereum may soon catch up to Bitcoin’s gains.
A market report by Bybit and Block Scholes indicates that the recent deleveraging in the crypto market could signal a reset in leveraged long exposure, paving the way for Ether to rally to a new all-time high in early 2025. Bybit analysts have shared their expectations of ETH reaching new heights in Q1 2025, citing its strength in derivative markets and the anticipation of price catch-up.
While Bitcoin has outperformed Ether in 2024, with a 54% increase compared to Ether’s 12% return, charts suggest that Ethereum may be on the cusp of a significant rally. Technical analysis shows an ascending triangle formation on the daily chart, indicating a potential surge to over $8,800 once Ether crosses the key resistance level of $4,100.
Moreover, historical data on Ethereum’s correlation with the Bitcoin halving cycle suggests that ETH could soon outpace Bitcoin’s momentum. Analysts anticipate Ethereum to shine against BTC in the coming months.
Investor interest in Ethereum is also on the rise, as evidenced by the significant increase in new wallet creations. Over 130,000 Ethereum addresses were generated daily in December, marking an eight-month high in wallet creations.
While some experts predict a more conservative price target for Ethereum, with VanEck forecasting a cycle top of $6,000 for Ether and a $180,000 price target for Bitcoin in 2025, the overall sentiment remains positive for Ethereum’s growth potential.
