Ether investment funds experienced an unprecedented net inflow of $2.2 billion in 2024, surpassing the cryptocurrency’s previous record of $2 billion in 2021, as reported by CoinShares.
This surge in inflows indicates a significant shift in sentiment towards ETH, according to CoinShares’ latest weekly digital asset fund flows report released on December 2.
Overall, the cryptocurrency investment products witnessed total net inflows of $270 million during the week starting November 26, pushing the annual inflows to a new high of over $37 billion.
Investor interest appeared to pivot from Bitcoin to ETH during the week of November 26, with BTC experiencing outflows of $457 million, its first substantial outflows since September. In contrast, ETH saw inflows of $634 million during the same period, signaling a noteworthy movement towards the altcoin market.
Felix Hartmann, the founder of Hartmann Capital, views this transition from BTC to ETH as a clear indication that Wall Street is embracing the “alt rotation” trend. This sentiment was echoed by popular crypto commentator Ethereum Vibin, who noted that ETH ETF flows have surpassed BTC ETF flows for the first time.
Additionally, XRP saw record inflows of almost $100 million, driven by speculation surrounding the possibility of an exchange-traded fund. This surge in XRP’s popularity propelled it to surpass Solana in market capitalization and overtake Tether to become the third-largest crypto asset by market cap.
