In a blow to Craig Wright, the United Kingdom Court of Appeal has dismissed his bid to appeal a High Court decision that discredited his claim of being the mysterious creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.
Well-known Bitcoin influencer, Hodlonaut, who has been closely following the saga of Wright’s “Faketoshi” claims, revealed on Nov. 29 that Wright’s plea for an appeal was swiftly rejected by the court.
The court found that Wright had presented misleading arguments to support his assertion of being Nakamoto, some of which were suspected to be generated using artificial intelligence.
This recent ruling marks the conclusion of Wright’s prolonged legal battles to establish himself as the mastermind behind Bitcoin.
According to the UK Court of Appeal, Wright’s appeal was riddled with inaccuracies, including references to non-existent sources. One mentioned source, Anderson v. the Queen [2013] UKPC 2, was dismissed as an “AI-generated hallucination” by the court.
The court stated, “The appeals have no prospect of success whatever, and there is no other reason to hear them.”
Craig Wright, a computer scientist and businessman from Australia, has been claiming to be Nakamoto since 2016. Despite his persistent affirmations, the crypto community remains skeptical of his assertions, with some labeling him a “scammer” and a “fraud.”
The High Court of Justice had previously ruled against Wright’s claims in a case filed by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), citing evidence of forgery.
As Wright’s facade crumbles, speculations continue to swirl around the true identity of Bitcoin’s enigmatic creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
Meanwhile, the search for Nakamoto’s true identity persists, with recent claims pointing fingers at various prominent figures within the cryptocurrency space.
